From the looks of it, Master is an action thriller. A college story with the backdrop of politics and student unrest. Not a new Genre for Tamil cinema, actually quite popular among big stars. It is definitely a huge rush to wait for the the version Lokesh Kanagaraj has concocted. So would you do the first day first show? Lets see...
Reasons to watch Master
The Cast
- Vijay - One of the highest paid actors and overseas grosser in South Indian Cinema. His last Movie Bigil was a super hit and was the top 10 'Most Tweeted about hashtags in India' according to Twitter India in 2019, and the most retweeted tweet in the entertainment category. Vijay, playing the role of a college professor in Master, should be a must watch for any die-hard fan.
- Vijay Sethupathi - He is the antagonist in Master, All the movies he had worked with as an antagonist with other stars have been a must watch. This should be the one not to miss, given the pre-release theatrics in Neyveli!
- Malavika Mohanan - A Kollywood debut alongside Rajinikanth and Tollywood entry opposite Vijay Deverakonda is the stuff dreams are made of. I'm definitely waiting for her scorching performance in Master.
- Andrea Jeremiah, Arjun Das, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, and Ramya Subramanian add to the star cast.
The Direction
- Lokesh Kanagaraj is a director on fire.
- His recent movies Maanagaram and Kaithi are known for their taut story lines.
- He got the best out of Karthi in Kaithi as an actor, who was on the verge of becoming a one movie wonder with no roles challenging him post his debut in Paruthiveeran.
- I'm hoping Master is as much a director's movie as it is Vijay's!
And the fact that it's a Big star movie releasing on OTT. This just might be the one that changes an entire industry.
Possible let downs
- Master will lack the big theater experience, thanks to COVID.
- It's being released on the OTT platform by Amazon Prime Video and the Satellite rights are with Sun TV Network.
- The music is nothing to rave about, will have to wait for the visuals that may make or break it.
